On February 13, 2020, the Regional House Of Representatives (DPRD) of the North Bolaang Mongondow (Bolmut) Regency, North Sulawesi visit Bappenas to discuss stunting prevention effort in their region. Pungkas Bahjuri Ali, Director of Public Health and Nutrition Directorate, welcomed this visit. In 2019, Bolmut District awarded the best implementation of the Stunting Convergence Action among other regencies in North Sulawesi.
Convergence action is a joint intervention effort targeting the priority regions and household to prevent stunting. It combines various existing resources to achieve a common goal, both at the planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation level.
DPRD plays a vital role in the planning stage of convergence action. After the first action (situation analysis) carried out, Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) will prepare the work plan and discuss it with DPRD. The work plan takes regional planning documents into accounts, such as the regional medium-term development plan (RPJMD), regional work plan (RKPD) and the regional government agency work plan (Renja OPD).
DPRD and Bappeda also determine which villages will be the stunting locus in the following year based on data collected at the situation analysis stage. Through this consultation, Bappenas hope that Bolmut’s DPRD can optimize its role in stunting prevention and reduction effort in their regions.
